This Privacy Policy explains what BeatBuds ("BeatBuds", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. By using the BeatBuds app you agree to this policy.
When you sign in with Spotify or with Apple, we receive an account identifier from that provider and a display name. If you sign in with Apple and choose to share it, we receive your email address (which may be an Apple private-relay address). We create a BeatBuds user record tied to these identifiers.
With your permission, we read the playlists and liked/saved songs you choose to whitelist as recommendation sources, so the app can build the pool of tracks it may recommend on your behalf. We store track metadata (title, artist, artwork, and identifiers such as ISRC) needed to play previews and let recipients save songs.
We store your matches, the songs recommended and saved during them, your emoji reactions, and round/match history. If you choose to add an optional social link (e.g. an Instagram or Spotify URL), it is shown only to people you have matched with; leave it blank to keep it private.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status and expiry so we can unlock Premium. We never receive or store your full payment-card details.
The free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may access a device/advertising identifier (such as the iOS IDFA or Android Advertising ID), general device information, and approximate location derived from your IP address. On iOS, personalized ads that use the advertising identifier are only enabled if you allow them when prompted (App Tracking Transparency). Premium subscribers see no ads.
We collect technical logs (timestamps, error and performance data, IP address) needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers strictly to run BeatBuds:
| Provider | Purpose | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify | Login & reading whitelisted music sources | spotify.com |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple & Apple Music access | apple.com |
| Google AdMob | Serving ads to free users | policies.google.com |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | revenuecat.com |
| Hosting (Fly.io, Neon, Upstash) | App servers, database, and cache | Bound by data-processing terms |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or the public. If BeatBuds is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may be transferred as part of that deal.
We keep your account and history while your account is active. Ephemeral match state is short-lived and expires automatically. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data as described below, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any right, email support@beatbuds.app.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data anytime in the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, matches, recommendations, and history. You can also request deletion by emailing support@beatbuds.app.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Sensitive third-party access tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
BeatBuds is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We operate from the United States and may process your data there or in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
